Well lets see here...
ziplock bag of dog food
tampon (unused of course)
like 5 bucks worth of change
tons of old insurance papers/cards

Things that aren't PO's fault but I totally overlooked
floors rusted out nearly completely (but pass. side was pretty nice still)
rust hole in exhaust, missing all but on exhaust hanger due to rust
rockers rusted out (i could punch through them with my fingers lol)
frame had a ~1 ft long portion that was rusted out next to the muffler

Best present from the previous owner was the whole jeep! He brought it to a shop because it wouldn't start. They gave him some quote of about $3000 to fix everything "wrong" with it. So he cut his losses and was going give it to the guy that quoted him what was wrong. I some how managed to talk him out of that and give it to me instead. I went to pick it up and found it was just the neutral safety switch that prevented it from starting. It started right up and I drove it home. Yes it was in rough shape but about $1200 in parts later and its looking and driving great!

I'd love to find the previous owner of my ZJ and take away any and all tools he owned. I have never seen such screwed up electrical work in my life. Took me three weeks to correct all the stuff he'd done wrong.

I picked up my 90 Xj from a jamaican man in Baltimore MD. 176k miles. Every bolt on panel was damaged beyond repair. Also he painted the Jeep lime green with spray paint. He thought he could make it look better. Man was it a mess. Luckily he didn't spray the roof. So a trip to jy I got one 98 f.fender all the doors Hood and lift gate bumpers and bumper corners. Everything else had to get new. Took 11 months and now I have a 1990/1998 Cherokee with new black paint job. Only reason why I bought it ran really well with no rust. (Very hard to find in this area)

A Red Top Optima that wasn't working was in the cargo area. Wasn't given a receipt or anything. Went to the shop, since it was still under warranty, got a free replacement. I haven't found any bad surprises yet.. although there doesn't seem to be anything.

I found a ton of bank receipts

a note from the guy's dad in the glove box saying he paid his insurance this semester to help him on his trip to Mexico

Pesos's to go with the note

a long rip in the rear seat leading to a small hole in the door panel, after finding the bullets in the center console I put two and two together someone obviously didn't take the gun safety class

tons of wrappers from fast food and beer caps under the seat

a broken pair of sunglasses

a leaking windshield

broken glass in the center console

old insurance cards

red spray paint

I'm sure there is more

Speakers wiring hacked and rear tailgate latch rigged together with bailing rope. Lots of primer patches and the right front fender had been repeatedly hammered outward.
