Rust falling off from who knows where every time I work on it.
I don't mind when people call my XJ a truck. It's the successor to the FSJ Cherokee, which basically was a truck, with a truck driveline and rear leafs. However this one dude I bought a couch from was like "Okay give me a minute to move my truck". He must've seen the look of utter confusion on my face... He meant his Compass.
Lol. I love it when I go up to parts counter and ask for parts for my Cherokee, he say grand or regular. I spent next minute scolding him, then I proceed to tell him I need a ZJ tie rod. ZJ fan clutch, ZJ brake rotors and pads. He look confused especially when my Cherokee is parked by the window. He keep telling me I m wrong.
Lol classic!

My biggest pet peeve, which has more to do with off roading, is NOT helping other people out on the trail. If you have time to rubberneck at the stuck/broken/on fire 'insert vehicle here', you have time to stop and offer to help them out. I see it more often than I would like and it really gets on my nerves.

One of my biggest pet peeves is that crossmember on the bottom of the jeep. it gets caught on everything. any time you want to do any work on the xj it seems you have to do something with it. lol
the other is that moment when someone tells me what my jeep can do. you can bash on it, point out its flaws, by all means if something is unsafe tell me, but dont tell me what it can and cant do.

Currently, my biggest pet peeve is TORX BOLTS. I've gone to war with them holding my doors and seatbelts on. Rounded them out, broken T50's, broken drill bits, and that was only with one so far.
Other than that, any rust at all is my #1 pet peeve.

to combat torx bits..
do yourself a favor and get a good set of torx bits.. like matco, they even have made a second generation torx bits that are wayyy more pointed at the edges, then the prior version

I couldn't agree more with that statement. I live in the SoCal "bubble" and it is STUNNING how self-centered people are here!!! I was raised from a southern (Georgia) background, but here in CA and let me tell you -- it disgusts me how selfish and self-absorbed the people around here are. I live in a beautiful place, but it's unfortunately tarnished with the current batch of people here. And I'm not just saying kids my age and under (20) are like this -- it's their parents as well! It's almost cyclic around here...
Example:
Someone ran out of gas in front of me at a crowded stop light. When the light turned green, all the people behind me honked and honked, and then changed lanes to pass and gave irritated, cold stares at the poor guy and me, even though it was clear what happened. I was the only one who got out of the car to help him push his truck to a safe location. Are you kidding?! Anywhere else and a bunch of people would have come to his aid. Such a lack of consideration.
Well, I guess now my pet peeve is obvious hehe sorry about the rant

And now two torx holding my rear door on are rounded out also, and I have no idea how I'm going to get them out. Lots of grinding and stones with the Dremel, I suppose
The good thing is that when I come out of this crap, my jeep will have 12 less torx bolts.
Edit: I also wanted to mention that a big pet peeve of mine is people who part out perfectly good XJ's.

Rear shock mounts being so dang low. I understand more travel means better ride, but come on, at least make them level with the bottom of the axle tube.
The pathetic center console mounting bracket.

I thought they'd hire anyone who was barely literate
