When the economy collapses thanks to the central-planning of RegimeCoInc. and FedCo.'s dollars are less valued than toilet paper, XJ's will come down in price. Until then, higher asking prices are the future of XJ's. Especially (but not limited to) clean, unmolested ones.
The owner of the one in the Craiglist ad the OP posted must be dreaming though. I can see the rust on the undercarriage and Lord knows what it's really like where it can't be seen...

Oh, and to the "clean unmolested ones" never made sense to me. youre obviously going to do all the same thing jack it up and big ol meats on it. whats the frickin difference?? honestly if you pay that much for one youre an idiot or you just dont care. but i do understand "they arent making anymore" so obviously it only gets harder to find ones that arent rusted to crap

Have you seen what people do to these things? And how many do it wrong?
THAT'S the difference. I'd rather start clean than inherit other people's baggage.
Which, by the way, I did when I got mine. Had to un-**** EVERYTHING the PO did to her...
Look in southern Arizona. Rust free so people think they can sell stock ones for way crazy expensive. Other was a stock one a while back and the guy wanted $9k

i wanted an unmolested one for myself. didn't want to fix someone elses mistakes and halfassed work. in the end it usually costs more to fix someone elses headache then it does to start from scratch.
