You should be able to get a working Dana 35 for under 150 bucks. Look at Craigslist or some of the other forums if you can't find one on here. I got my 8.25 with limited slip, fresh breaks, fresh oil in the pumpkin and all the break lines up to the hard lines on the body for 150 because the guy was upgrading to a ford 9inch. Look around and you should be able to find one in good shape. I've seen them for free at some times also. The junk yards around me always poke holes in the covers to drain the oil so if you have to go that rout then make sure to save your cover or plan to get a new one.

That's exactly what i'm doing, bought a bracket kit for my XJ44 to swap it into my ZJ build. You'll need to study some and be able to measure and weld.

I'm starting to think this is not the original rear axle. There is a lot of silicon around the differential. My father in law is pretty much set on rebuilding this axle. We are doing it in my backyard,neither one of us has a torch and I think he is a lot more comfortable just to rebuild.Here's some more pics I took after cleaning it up.Going to have to order online and worried about getting the wrong kit.Going to rebuild anyway,is there a part I can take out that gives me a definative answer?

you have a dana 35 with 3.55 gears. end of story. order parts for a dana 35 c clip version and you are good.
but as said before, would be cheaper and easier to just grab a Junk yard axle or a used one on craigslist and just bolt it in.
also, why does silicon around the diff scare you into thinking its not original? it simply means someone actually changed the fluid and sealed the cover with RTV instead of a gasket
