Default need help with overhead console

I have been dying to get an OHC and it seems that the only xj ones are like $200 +. Ive looked around and it seems like the zj ones are almost an exact match in terms of looks. I realize that the wiring will be completely different and the trip meter, compass, and all that wont work. But I want to put a switch panel for lights in the spot of the LCD anyway. I wanna know is if the console will fit in the xj, how It will fit (brackets, extra drilling), and if i can get just the lights in the console to work.
Thanks

Well i know there are two OHCs for the zjs. The small one and large one. And i think all the mounting is the same for the large one. Check out the tech section.

I belive the mounts are there. You have to cut the headliner. Look up the DIY in the tech section

it mounts completely different then the xj one.

the zj mount uses one screw in the center towards the front.

the xj one uses to screws on the side and holds the visors.

here look. XJ on the left ZJ on the right it's a pain in then *** to try and mount the ZJ One. If all you want is a place for a switch box just pull an overhead console from an older Dodge van they mount up just the same as the XJ. In fact if we are going to get technical the OHC on the left is from a dodge van.

not to thread jack, but how hard would it be to install a stock overhead console in an XJ that never had one?

not to bad u just need the OHC, mounting bracket, temp sensor and wiring harness. It plugs in next to the fuse box and run the length of the passenger a pillar up to the OHC.

My has one long screw in the center front, and the back is held in by brackets on the console. To remove, pull the screw out, and slide the console forward, while pressing up.

I was actually thinking of making my own but if you wouldn't mind, could you put more pictures of that one you have up. I'm definetly interested in it. And does it come with the mounting bracket and wiring? Thanks!
