I bought my Jeep Cherokee on 1/7/12 with about 152,000 miles shown on the odometer. I just logged in to Jeep.com and there are 3 records of vehicle service, the most recent in 2007, that show the vehicle had over 300,000 miles at the time of service.
Do I have a case of fraud against the used car dealer that I bought it from? Are the service records at Jeep.com, known to be in error?
Thanks

Someone probably swapped the speedo. One time i made a little drill bit gear to roll forward a speedo i pulled from the JY for my 92 that had less miles than my broken one. I could have been dishonest and just installed it, but knowing it was incorrect would bug the ***** out of me.... But it wasnt hard unfortunately. I would get an official carfax report to go by, and if it seems that the used car place pulled a fast one, then maybe you can take it further.

happened to me also. guy claimed it had 160k on it but the original owner found me on facebook thru one of his friends because he was trying to get it back(guy that sold it to me wasnt supposed to) and it really had close to 400k on it. i dont really care to much since it still runs great with out issues. i would definitly print out those records and take it back to the dealer and ask for money back and if they dont tkae legal actions towards the dealership.

In all honesty, no. There's no proof linking the dealership you bought it from with the odo issue. Used cars go through so many hands, a previous owner could of done it for a better trade in value, another dealership could of rolled it before sending it to auction, the odo could of been replaced at another time. In Illinois a '94 is mileage exempt, meaning the record of mileage no longer needs to be reported.

I think it depends on the conditions when you bought it. If they had a window sticker on it stating it only had 152k on it and it was stated that that was the actual milege then you would have a case. But if you bought it and the only thing you saw was the odo or if it was a verbal type of deal your SOL. Im pretty sure here in NC it is milege exempt also.

Doesn't matter. Did you Car Fax it before buying? No. Did you sign the As-Is contract? Yes. You are honestly SOL dude. The time to Car Fax is before buying, not after the fact. And dude, if you had never Car Faxed it, would you of felt like you got a good deal?
