I am told that my 1993 4.0 is just a baby with only 246K. What is the most miles anybody has (original, not re-build) some of the claims I have heard seem like "Fish Tales!"...

Half a million, at least what I heard from an employee at Auto Zone. If properly maintained, they generally last 300-500K and the same if rebuilt. I wouldn't say 250K is a baby. It's flat wearing out at that point in some way. Even my 140K 4.0L already has engine blowby.

Then your heep has been abused. Plenty last much longer. The key is proper treatment...ie regular and proper maintenance. Mine is from 87, has ~250k and has no issues, save the IAC giving me trouble.

Interesting. So what can I do at this point to "fix" it other that proper maintenance without a rebuild?

New rings, or hone the cylinders, which ever is damaged.

For blow-by? Don't think so.

Interesting comments. I'll have a mechanic take a look at it in a few weeks when I rack up enough money.

My gf and I are in a race to see how many miles we can put on our jeeps. She has a 2000 auto with 210K and I have a 95 manual with 213K, both run great. Much better than our 1st jeep which was a 96 auto with 188K but i think thats because a woman drove it for most of its life. I think she's going to win because i drive the **** out of mine, NO MERCY!!!!
