Looking at a 93 Cherokee sport need advice
Hey guys, so I’m an amateur when it comes to automotive world. Have been doing the research for the past year.
And I was wondering if I could get some pointers on what to look at on this Cherokee sport 93. It looks like it’s in great condition interior/exterior. The big thing I see is the mileage with 240k miles on it.
I haven’t had the chance to own a Cherokee before but I’d like my first one not to be a lemon asking 2500$ for it

It looks pretty clean given the mileage. I would say that asking price is a little steep though.
Its obvious it will need new springs in the rear, plan on replacing a lot, if not all your suspension parts. Look for rust, look everywhere. Common places are bottom front fender, rear wheel tubs, floors. Make sure the oil pressure reads at least 13psi when the engine is up to temp and idling. Check all the front end rubber bushings. Drive it. Make sure you hit some bumps going at least 50mph (or not depending on your death wobble sensitivity). Check cooling system... the common stuff.

Looks pretty clean, try to talk them down a few hundred. Maybe you can grab it for $2200-2300 instead. I paid $1550 for my '92 with 135k on it. It needed the AC to be fixed and a few other things but mine is pretty clean too.

Looks pretty clean and taken care of. Yeah, try to negotiate as Sreject said. There are many owners on this site with xj's over 300k. Also being stock it hasn't been molested with upgrades and hacks. If they have maintenance records, that may help with your decision.
