Default Key fob problems

Hi all I have a problem with my 97 xj 2.5 petrol . When I try to use my key fob to open the doors and disable my immobiliser it doesn't work. The fob locks the doors fine everytime. Over the last week it has worked once. Any thoughts on whether it is a worn out key fob and is it easy to program these . Thanks to you all out there.

Mine does this when the batteries are getting weak.

Do the power locks function from the inside with no problems? If not, door wires are probably broken.

Is the circuit board in the key fob fine? I know we have a lot of issues with the circuit boards on the General Motor's fobs.

Yep the doors lock from inside when you use the lock button on the door and when I use the fob. I have looked at the circuit board inside all seems well. The board looks very sturdy and like new. I might have to go into the stealership but they require the car as well but I can't get it to start :-/

You could try resetting...just use the procedure to program a new remote.

Is it possible that it won't start for some other reason?

Yep I have an auto electrician in lookin into it . He reckons the car battery has gone low at one point. He's gonna try to reset . I don't have any info on this.
