I quick lil update. We've had a few 90-95 days & in heavy stop & go in city my temps have dropped considerably both motor & engine compartment. Haven't had a problem with fuel rail heating up from sitting hot & restarts. Which I didn't have problems before but so far I'm very happy with the mod. Bolts(header & intake)are much easier to get to, temps have dropped significantly, & crank sensor is now accessible from top or bottom.

I've seen temp climb to 200 once in 105 degree in city driving. Normally it stays right around 180-190 on interstate at speed, creeping in traffic n city driving. Been 95 plus here for well over a month n she still runs cool & I haven't even mounted a scoop or hood vents yet.
Already have ceramic coated header & I'm gonna header wrap it also. I'm not worried about strength. The runners alone are plenty to support the aluminum throttle body & spacer & what lil fuel rail weight there is. I don't agree with engine compartment heat can't be helped. Every little thing that can be done will help.imo. The big difference will come with the huge hole & a ram air/cowl hood covering that hole. & the webbing removed to allow the heat to rise up through these holes to the scoop, or fresh air from the scoop pushing down through the manifold where the webbing will be removed, to push it out the bottom. Either way its a win win deal. Even if it lowers intake air temp 2degrees or lowers compartment temps 5degrees, it'll be worth it imo for a couple hours work with no $$$ spent on the mod. Little things can & do add up. Like the difference between a normal sbc intake & a air-gap sbc intake. More airflow= cooler intake= cooler intake air=more power.
Totally agree!
