Has anyone cut the webbing out from between the intake runners for maximum airflow for the intake & header. Screw it I'm cutting mine out.

I'm gonna trim both a older square style & the newer rounded style intakes this weekend ill post pics before & after & installed. I never had over heating problems before I pulled motor & I'm wrapping my header so my jeep probably isn't the best test subject to see if it actually helps but I'm doing it anyhow. More air in & around runners & header can only help imo.

You might end up doing more damage than good. Engineers spent time to make sure that the runners were all about the same exact length so that the same volume of air is going in to each head. Be careful. If it works out then awesome!

I'm not cutting the actual runners. I'm removing the webbing between the runners(above the header) so where the header is almost touching the intake webbing. Remove this for maximum airflow can let & push this heat away from my intake & header area. Right now header heats up the webbing & traps the heat under your intake. Which heats your incoming air, make your injectors run warm, ect.

& I hate to break the news to ya but the actual intake runners are not all the same length. The center ones are shorter than the outside runners.
I would be concerned that removing the webbing would weaken the manifold, and cause it to break. I dont think there is anything you can do to reduce under hood temps in a XJ due to the engine design.
I think you would be better off getting a ceramic coated header that will lower the temps better then what you are trying to do.

Already have ceramic coated header & I'm gonna header wrap it also. I'm not worried about strength. The runners alone are plenty to support the aluminum throttle body & spacer & what lil fuel rail weight there is. I don't agree with engine compartment heat can't be helped. Every little thing that can be done will help.imo. The big difference will come with the huge hole & a ram air/cowl hood covering that hole. & the webbing removed to allow the heat to rise up through these holes to the scoop, or fresh air from the scoop pushing down through the manifold where the webbing will be removed, to push it out the bottom. Either way its a win win deal. Even if it lowers intake air temp 2degrees or lowers compartment temps 5degrees, it'll be worth it imo for a couple hours work with no $$$ spent on the mod. Little things can & do add up. Like the difference between a normal sbc intake & a air-gap sbc intake. More airflow= cooler intake= cooler intake air=more power.

The only thing I want to mention is be careful with exhaust wrapping your header. Dont know exactly where you live but that exhaust wrap will hold water/salt of the road and can cause your exhaust to rust and wear faster.
Again, Im not telling you not to do it. Just bringing that up incase you live in a place like the salt/rust belt like I do.

Stock header you mean? I was actually going to wrap my intake also but I didn't have enough wrap. I wouldn't be afraid to wrap either the stock header or intake although intake being aluminum might actually trap heat in.

yeah, stock exhaust manifold
looks like I'll be wrappin mine as soon as ive got the funds then, cutting all the extra crap outta the intake sounds like a fun project too, might as well do that while I'm doing injectors anyway
