Improving Gas Milage
Could someone write a couple paragraphs (or more; the longer, the better) on ways to save gas in a Jeep. Air filter, fuel filter, synthetic, fuel injectors, etc. I'm currently averaging only 350-375 miles per tank (23 gallons) on a 4.0L engine. It would be ideal to get at minimum around 425.

Your right foot is a huge factor in gas mileage. When I drive my XJ hard, wheeling, towing, just on the throttle, I am averaging 12.5mpg.
If I take it easy I can get 16mpg. I try to keep my RPMs under 2500.
Do a google search for XJ gas mileage. This is about as commong a topic as any

It's actually under 350. I was just going off the EPA and Jeep measurements of fuel economy. Says 15MPG combined, but takes about $78 to fill up (23 gallons) and I probably see only 200-275MPG. Something needs to be done. I _will_ find a way/s to save fuel. It's not impossible and I will do it. And forget buying a Honda. I'm a man. We drive trucks, not riced out automobiles.

I average about 325 miles between fill ups, and then it usually only takes about 18.5 gallons, so I'm getting about 17.5 miles per gallon if I drive nice and don't sit and idle for long periods of time (stop lights, drive throughs, staring at the jr. high girls, ect.) I can deal with that kind of mileage because I'm more comfortable in my Grand Cherokee than I am in my 07 Kia Spectra that gets 35 MPG. 6'5" and 325 pounds does not fit into a tiny car too well, I'll trade off some fuel mileage for comfort any day.

Yeah, came with the Jeep when I bought it. Have been thinking of removing it, but the Jeep loses a more intimidating look as a result. Plus it could help during a vehicle accident. Maybe I should take it off to save gas. How much $$ do you think I could sell the grill guard for?

your gas milage sounds about right for how big your tank is. you might as well buy something new/newer if you want that good of gas milage cuz youre gonna spend A LOT of money if you are that determined to get the gas milage you desire. but i agree with everyone else on here its basicaly all in how heavy your foot it just consider that and drive like gandpa
