I believe that's what it is. That's what it says on various sources of Google, although it feels like less for some reason. But if that's what it says then that's what it is.

So explain to me how buying a new car will save money on gas? I spend about 300 bucks on gas a month for my Jeep that is paid for, a car payment will about 300 dollars or more a month PLUS the cost of gas and extra insurance cost that is required for a financed vehicle, but only save about 75 bucks in fuel costs. So why spend 300 dollars a month to save maybe 75 dollars in gas?

Oh, and the ZJ does have a 23 gallon tank. My low fuel light comes on with about 5 gallons left in the tank.

Good information to know about the 5 mile fuel light. I was wondering how much remains at that point.... so about 50+ miles.

Keep it light, too, I've noticed just going off of the overhead console that when she loads down at below 2000 rpm Mileage will drop from 18 mpg to 9-12 mpg, so try easing up on the gas qhile climbing hills.

Yeah, I've also noticed that driving like grandpa saves gas, although it pisses off traffic behind you, esp. when you just turn out onto the main road and people start swerving around you. That's a trademark sign that you're doing a good job of keeping your checking account in good standing.

I also hear that if you switch to synthetic oil that you only have to change it every 7,000 miles whereas conventional oil is every 3,0000 and it helps to save more gas. Not sure if that last part is a myth.

P.S. Will begin to monitor the RPMs, had no idea it's that dramatic.

When you go out shopping to Walmart and the cashier asks, "Do you want to sign up for a Walmart credit card?" do you say "Yes", "No", or do you ask, "What is the interest rate and are there reward points for each transaction?" Much like the credit card, the Jeep is the instrument in which we do our commuting (transactions) but we also want the best gas milage it has to offer (interest rate).

And to be fair, you may say to buy a more fuel-efficient Honda, however, each customer has a unique transaction. In my own circumstance, I cannot fit into anything less than a truck.

+1 its just wanting the most out of what you buy

you could say, why lift it and mod it, why not just buy a monster truck

according to this you should of asked about fuel milage before buying the jeep. for the most part a good running vehicale will always get about the same amount of gas milage, so if say the average stock cherokee gets 16 mpg you shouldn't buy one and try to get 20 mpg out of it cause it probably won't happen. I'm not trying to come off rude so if i am sorry, but the only way to really get better gas milage out of a vehical people aint willing to do. they are more willing to do stuff that gives you worse gas milage (bigger tires, lift kit, added weight) then they get on forums and complain about not getting good mpg
