Default I miss this forum

So recently I have gotten a nice jk dropped in my lap for a smoking deal. So I have taken it. My Cherokee is sitting idle waiting for me to sell it. In the mean time I have joined a forum for the jk crowd as this is not the place for them and what I have found is absolutely astonishing. No one there makes their own equipment everyone buys bumpers and sliders and all that jazz and you are deemed sup par if you build your own. They praise body tub mounted "sliders" and frame mounted some how deminish "ground clearance". And my home made sliders that mount to the frame were ruled stupid. I Dont Know about y'all but if sliders can hold the entire weight of the vehicle with out bending or doing damage they are working properly. They also generally give you **** for asking a question because you question the dealers info on what they recommend. For example my rubicon has lockers I needed to re seal the diff covers. All I had was gl 5 gear lube with friction modifier. I just wanted to check to make sure that it would not cause any issues but I was already pretty confident it wouldn't as I run the stuff in my xj with lunch box lockers. But jeep dealer said it NEEDS the modifier or will chatter. But that is not true as there is no clutches on the lockers. And I was crucified for not taking jeep at their word. So long story short I miss this place dearly. I miss the help I miss the diy mentality. The run what ya brung style most here have. Just wanted to let y'all know that this is the best jeep forum I've ever been a part of. Thank you for that guys y'all hVe helped me a ton over my three xjs.

As my friend says. Us XJ guys have thicker skin then the rest of the Jeep crowd. JK and most Wrangler owners need to be fed Jeep waves or they'll have a fit.

After the crap my XJ went through this weekend I'd be inclined to sell the JK and buy 2 more XJs.

What JK forum is it? I belong to a couple JK forums. One in particular is full of opinionated smart asses that think anything other than EVO stuff is junk.

Yeah I sold my XJ for a JK and I still hang out here. I have plenty of XJ experience under my belt to keep talking about it around here.

If you like the forum, you can still hang out and post about your JK in the other vehicles section.

Im having a similar situation with a WK. My xj sits idle waiting to be sold too. I find the wk site a bit stuffy for the most part. Not the traffic or in-depthness of this place, thats for sure. I guess its to be expected as the wk and wk2s are still shiny jeeps. Its taking some getting used to. Im still visiting the grand cherokee section here too. I do like my wk though.

The xj is old now so the info on it is huge and still growning. The parts most of us are cheap or broke and rather make our own vs buying it or its not made so we make it.Most people that can afford to buy a brand new jk can afford to spent 2 grand on front and rear bumpers and rock sliders. While we have members that might have 2 grand total in their whole jeep.

I would sell the jk and buy more xj stuff. I was planning on totally redoing the xj since I had paid off all my debt but it being 26 years old I was getting kind of tired of having to rebuild everything when I turned around before I could upgrade. I got the 08 jk rubicon with lift and tires bumpers and winch with a new engine and a chassis with 39k on it for under 16k$ so I took it. I could still sell it for close to 10k more than that where I live. But it drives so much nicer than my xj. And the jk forum I am talking about is well the jkforum. I will keep lurking here

Ain't that the truth. I don't think I could go back to an XJ as a dd at this point.
