Default hitch mounted spare tire carrier

im gona build a hitch mounted spare tire carrier but got to thinking instead of having it fold down out towards you when your trying to get in the hatch area what about if it pivoted and rotated either to the right or left. that way it wouldnt be as much in the way as a fold down one would. i got some ideas brewing on how to do it just wondering if anyones tried it or if anyone could forsee any reason not to do it.

I think he is wanting to have it fold to the side instead of straight back.

Why not mount the tyre on the roof?
Alway's think that looks good and it's out the way.

It's a real PITA getting it up and down, if it's a big tire.

Easy. Make a joint that bends to the side instead of out straight.
