Default Hitch Tire Carrier

NO WELDING REQUIRED! all bolt on! for those of you who dont have a welder!
First started out as a 3ft section of 2"x2"x0.25" steel tubing, and some 1/4" plates and a spare tire mount from my old boat trailer

Then did some hole drilling

Then some nuts n bolts

More hole drilling

Then some more nuts n bolts

Mocked up for a fitment test

Nice Grade 8 1/2"x20 bolts for the tire mounting studs (spare lug nuts will hold the spare on so you always have extra lugs in case one gets lost)
Although i said no welding in this build, i decided that welding the heads of the bolts to the hub just for my ease of putting the tire up there and taking it off

All done n pretty

On she goes!

There's much more in between and info left out haha, figured this was Fab section worthy, any questions comments or what ever feel free to fire away!

Looks great!!

Where are you mounting the license plate?

Are you going to have a light above the plate?

do you plan on capping the ends of the tube? that vertical one is just going to hold water.

That vertical tube has no caps, so in theory it should drain out fine, but i think thats a little next week end project...

I have a simular one I built but it's a PITA on the trail finding wrenches and lowering it. Mine holds a 38 so raising and lowering it with one hand while trying to put a bolt in or out with the other can be fun. I ended up drilling a second hole in my hitch vertically to help with the movement because it will wobble a little bit. I also used a bolt instead of a hitch pin to help with the wobble.

Nice work on the mount, thought about moving my spare from the trunk to outside on a mount to get more cargo room inside.

Yea I noticed that I need to line it up and give my pin a little more clearance in the hole so I don't have to kick it in anymore.. I fell eventually I'll rig a shock like the hatch has so its not such a back sore to move
