As far as power for $100 not much, but as for torch's go you can buy a lot of "Bic" lighters for a $100

$100 will get you some exhaust mods. New downpipe and a muffler I guess.

Some MAP gas is fine too. You'll need a torch to DIY

Mods and cheap never mix.I would start with a full tune up then go exhaust. What size are your tires on it?Going bigger tires with out gearing it to match will make it slower and harder on fuel.

$100 in exhaust parts would make it sound like a lawnmower.

Save your $100. Use it for gas or food.

junk yard injectors can be found cheap sometimes think my neon ones cost me $25 for 8
if you have a welder you can build the exhaust get ride of the dent in the down pipe. but to be-honest some cheap mods might get you off idle response but not huge gain the 4.0 is a work horse in stock trim wont when you a lot of power awards but will get you there.

Naaaah. Walker downpipe and a new muffler can be had for that in the 'Murica, can't they? Don't you guys have shops selling 2.5" tail pipes on every corner for $9.99 or something?

I don't understand the logic behind replacing the dented mandrel bent OEM downpipe with a crush bent Walker downpipe. I would think that any advantage you would get from removing the dent would be offset by the turbulence in the airflow introduced by the folds in the crush bends. That Walker pipe seems like a waste of money unless your OEM downpipe is rotting and just needs to be replaced.

The 4.0L sounds like an oversized lawnmower if you cheap out on the exhaust. So yeah, you can buy a crimped downpipe and lawnmower pipes for your XJ for less than $100, but I really don't understand why you would want to.

It would seem that way, however in reality it's a nice upgrade. The amount of backpressure created by the OE dent outweighs the turbulence from the crimpy bends. Pretty much everyone who installs one immediately notices the extra oomph on the lower end.

Would the turbulence matter around 4000 RPM? Maybe... I still believe it's a lesser evil than the dent. I don't know what a Jeep inline 6 would be doing at 4000 RPM anyway.

Turbo. Spray it. Cast iron, son!

Whenever I become rich and don't need this thing, I'm strapping 35's and a nitro kit to it and running it up a wall.
