Default Front driveshaft 242?

Is my front driveshaft supposed to move in 2wd?
It a 1990 4.0 i6 xj w/ 242 tc.
Just put 3" lift and now I'm chasing down a driveline vibe.
My plan was to remove the front driveline first. Drive it and see.
Can someone recommend a good SYE. Kit for my application.
Thanks for any replies and all the help

Yes it's supposed to on a 87-90. Axle has a vac disconnect.

As for an sye it all depends on your wallet size

Also 99% of the time a drive line vibe isn't from the front. It's always the rear

Can leave the front shaft out indefinitely.
Spicer joints 1310 size, greasable or non, your choice. $18 - $23 each.

what is the purpose of leaving it out? Also why replace the u joints in a driveshaft you will need to replace soon anyway (rear) since you have vibes. Sye and new rear driveshaft is the answer.

Tcase drop will likely "fix" your vibrations. It's very common with a 242.

But the real answer is sye.

The front driveshaft will turn whenever the front wheels are rolling. (RENIX w/ 242 doesn't have vacuum disconnect)

You can remove it and drive around without it, but you won't be able to use Full-Time position

Odgreen, you confused me. I think ehall's answer is correct. I had a 1999 and the front driveshaft would turn in 2wd. Unless you had disconnecting hubs in the front, I thought this was the case no matter what year range.

I'm pretty sure 90 still had the cad. Op. Settle this. Go take a pic of your passenger side axle tube. It should have this on it if it's a cad. This axle in the pic is out of a 1990.

That's because every d30 after 91 wasn't a cad axle.
