Default Don't fear the heater.........

So I have been putting off replacing my heater core for 2 years. I just blow it out and get some heat, till it stops working agian, or gets just warm.

Now I have replaced many heater cores, some very tough ones.

A couple of weeks ago I did one for a customer with a grand cherokee.

But on my own xj its different. Its like the last thing I want to do!!

Well I did it this sunday. Only took three hours to do. Expect 5 for a newb.

Man what a difference!! That thing will run you out of there! And I don't have any carpet, just a metal floor. Its been pretty cold and having a heater that gets the car decent in less than 10 minutes, and in 12 minutes you have to turn the fan off and the heat down is awesome!!

So glad I did mine finally, and I wish I would have done it sooner.

Just a tip, its worth it

The hardest part for me was finding all the screws that hold the dash together. And those screws that hold the heater box to the firewall that you have to get at from the engine bay. Man, those were a pain.

Agreed, heater core is last thing I want to do again.
I think Jeep started with the core and built the vehicle around it.

LOL. I was trying to encourage people, not discourage. Trust me there are much worse ones than an xj.

Ah C'mon... It's easy. Just time consuming.

True... My last easy but time consuming job was replacing the 'welsh-freeze plugs' on rear of block. No fun.

Still need to do a heater core replacement on the current XJ. Getting that sweet smell when turning on heat.
