Hallo all,
First off, an apology. I don't have a Cherokee.
What I do have, however, shares a lot of late eighties Cherokee fittings and fixtures and was at least made in Kenosha..
I'm hoping to be able to lean on the knowledge contained within this forum's collective brain-power, as there's been a lot more work and research done on the Cherokee than there ever has been on the Renault GTA.
I've been working on the fuel injection (same as the TBI on the 2.5) and am currently on the cross-reference hunt for the parts-bin bits that Renault dipped into when they purchased AMC/Jeep. There's a lot of shrugs and "dunno"'s when it comes to asking what's available where, what matches what else, what was stolen from what model and so forth.
For instance, I just changed out one of the most complained-about parts of a Cherokee- the coolant reservoir. I don't know if it was a Renault part wedged in a Jeep or vice versa, but eh. Mine was no exception to the rule, split open and leaked, with the early model cap that couldn't vent an overheating engine properly.
Anyhow.. brief introduction over, hope not to offend anybody by being here- hoping to keep my car going with any assistance I can get. Part of life
