Default Do the WalMart/Auto Store AC Charging kits work?

Is it worth the 25-30 bucks to buy it. My AC works but isn't very cold anymore. Any tips?

Should I drain mine first or just add to it?

Usually you just add to it.
Yes they do work though. When I had to replace my condenser I just bought one of these kits and used it to refill it, worked like a charm.

The stop leak has a tendacy to clog up the orifice tube (r134 systems) if there's nothing wrong with the system. Try to get one without stop leak. If you do use stop leak remember it's just a temp fix until repairs can be made

They have one for 15 bucks around my area (Pittsburgh) and one is 25-30..Avoid the 15! I cant think of the brand(of the good one) but the can and hose assembly is blue and the hose assembly w/gauge is reusable. Look in the end of the hose that connects to your a/c line and make sure its some type of metal, the cheaper ones are made of plastic and all they do is bend instead of pushing the stem down to allow refrigerant to flow into the line. Your 98 will use R134-A. Thats all you can buy anyway. I did notice a nice difference when I fillied mine to proper rating.
