That's what i'm saying. A MINT xj is worth $5,500 to $6,000 tops. The crazy thing is that there are people on craigslist who think their Cherokees are top of the line...like this guy

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/2492280005.html

$3,500 for a car that is AT BEST a 1996? with 190k? With scratches, dings, and a fair interior? No way. This thing is worth like $2,300 tops.

The first guy is clearly off his rocker.

The second guy, he's obviously aiming high with $3500, he'll settle for $3000 without a fuss. And he has a shot at that, depending on just how dinged up and how much someone really wants that model. Still, 189k is pretty high, and it is a ~15yo Cherk. And is it even 4x4? Max I'd go is $2500.

True, alot of the asking prices on craigslist ads have no basis when compared to real world values on Edmunds, KBB, or NADA. An additional fact could be the sellers are way over entended when it comes to debt, and are hoping to dig themselves out of the hole. In the end that 1999 will probably sell for ~ $6000.

I emailed the guy asking $12,400 to tell him he's crazy, and he is saying that he's seen mint XJs go for over $13,000 in the past year -___- yeah right! Who the hell is buying a 12 year old XJ for $13,000?

Totally insane and delusional. I didnt pay that much for my '99 in '02 with 44K on her. And they had like 15 XJ's at this dealer, all with 35ish on them except mine, and they were all under that price. That guy is either smoking some really good stuff, or some really bad stuff. Not sure which. Its not like its an old collectors car or something.

I have seen them go on ebay for that much when I first started looking... people think they are some sort of rare find that will go up in value as a collectors car... only problem is that they made about 200,000 cherokees a year almost every year of production.

we payed 6800 (- tax, tag, title) for mine 58975 original miles. IMMACULATE interior and limited issues on the outside. WELL WORTH IT! Service manual has all the checks marks and the mechanic signed it! Kept garaged in Florida so no rust from salt!
