Default distibutor to coil pack

Im getting a 98 engine with distributor that I will be dropping into a 2000 xj. I know I have to do some stuff to be able to switch the distributor over to coil pack but cant seem to find anything that answers this fully. Any help would be greatly appriciated

I think you'd need to replace the computer (ECM) also.

Why do you want to run coil packs? Just swap the engine and computer and keep the dizzy.

The doomaflotchy that is in your block to run the coil packs can be swapped right into the 98 block.

Swap the motor, all the 2000 parts and sensors will bolt on.
Motor at top dead center, drop in the Cam Sensor (in place of 98 distributor).
Make hangers to hang coil rail off the valve cover studs on the coil side. Or swap to using a Viper/Ram coil and wires to get it off the Valve cover.
Done.

The Cam Sensor just needs to be aligned, put old motor at TDC... Drop toothpick into alignment hole, pull and put into new block (also at TDC #1).
The hangers are easy to make, may want to move a couple of the VC studs to the coil side, IIRC I used three or four (one for each mounting hole in the rail) . Gimme a minute and I'll check the 'bucket for a pic.
