cutting fenders?

Default cutting fenders?

I have a 90' xj, and i just got a rc 4.5 lift. i'm looking to get some 33/12.5 tires, and i'm gonna have to trim the fenders. but how do i trim them? i'm new to the off roading world, and i would love some tips and advice how to properly trim my fenders. thanks guys.

With that lift height I would buy the tires, install them, and go from there.

You may not have to trim, and and if you do you probably won't need to trim much. What I do is flex my truck out, make markings with a marker where I need to trim, and as needed.

And quite a few guys here have even done write ups on trimming.

Most people use a dremel that's what I would use if I could redo mine. Lol I used a saw zal don't recommend that it was hell and not very clean cut

I used an aircraft air-powered cutting wheel, took awhile due to waiting for my little air compressor to charge after a 10-second burst of using it, but made a REALLY clean cut. It's awesome some of the tools you can get your hands on when your dad works in aircraft maintenance!

i have a 4.5 inch rc lift with 33 by 12.5 and i don't rub with no trimming i still have the stock flares on. mines a 95 sport. did you add a leaf of full leaf pack cus i did the full leaf packs.

Finally trimmed mine. Used a 3" cut off wheel cut through like paper. At 5" and 285/75R16s I didn't have to trim much in the front, but I still rub the fender flares. I only have 3" in the back and completely folded the fenders in and remounted the flares in the stock holes with zip ties. Still had to trim the bottom corners of the flares but the flares seem ok with just zipties and I don't rub anymore.

You don't need to trim at all if you don't want to I have a 5" lift with 35s and all I did was trimmed the front off so with a 4 and 1/2 with 33s should be no problem
