TOTM FOR JULY 2011 FENDER TRIMMING/COMP CUTS!
TOTM (Topic Of The Month) is something I will be starting the 1st of every month, but its a group effort posting helpful info! So post what pics you have on the topic, as well as helpful info for people looking into these topics for their first time. Please keep chit chat to a minimum. The Idea is to have a less hardcore verison of pirates TOTM here on CF, so I'll start us off...
This was my first experiment with the cut & fold method. lets just say there was alot of cutting, & not alot left to fold! lol

Here you can see I cut right on the line a smart man would have folded... wish someone had put together this thread back then.

Added this to give people an idea of how high up most people cut/fold the back.

Here you can see I beat the pinch weld seam that runs along the frame up, so it was tucked out of the way.

On other lower QP cuts since, I took my time cutting along all the pinch welds around the lower section of the QP. Then measured how much I needed to cut. I folded the front & back up in first, then the inside, & last I folded the outter painted sheet metal up. self tapping screws work well to bring it all together, & insulating spray foam works grate to seal the inside!
Lets see them guys/gals!

Well I don't have any pics of the process but here is the end result! Trimmed the fronts and did the cut and fold on the rear (which I wish would have turned out better). Then I gave it all a coat of bed liner along with the rockers. Overall I think it looks pretty nice but it could have been done a lot better.

RoyalXJ, Can you give us more info on the rear wheel wells to keep it as informative as possible? Thanks
Thanks All, & Remember this is not limited to this one style of cut & folds. Anything from a slight trimming to rear wheel well relocations are welcome & encouraged, show em, if ya got em!

i pretty much just kept cutting away with shears until i cleared the tire. then i cut out all the extra metal in the inner fender. but beware if you do this you will have an opening into your interior. all i keep in my hatch is tools, spare parts and a spare tire so i dont mind things getting wet and muddy.
