Check the many posts already on this forum, or videos on YouTube showing the successful swaps.
It's a computerless engine, so it'll work out just fine if you rig it up right.

Obviously your eyes are bigger than the belly of the XJ, sure it can be done, but you would have to completely redo the chassis of the XJ or possibly just scrap the chassis and tube the whole thing for this to work but even then you would be looking at a nose heavy burnout queen that very possibly if stopped hard enough and if it were lifted enough would have the rear end lift off the ground, or if you were rock crawling would be a roll over buggy. Weight of the 6BT as 855-905 LB, Oh, and that's less flywheel and electrics, where as the XJ 4.0 is about 505lbs. Were talking double the weight motor and transmission, not only that you would have to extend the nose at least another 8-12" to contain the beast and have adequate cooling to handle the monster.
The funny part is you would have a better chance achieving what the 6bt does by converting a 4.0 to a diesel by stroking it out to a 4.8 with a resleeved engine, then ARP studs all around, forged everything, make the compression 15 to 1 or higher, probably more so 17/18 to 1 would make a pretty wild engine, then create a glow plug system to go into the same sports as the spark plugs, Also probably get 75-100lb injectors for diesel with a custom fuel rail that could handle it. Also forgot to mention you have to put a custom grind crank in it, and also atleast 150lb springs for the valves and also a Turbo to feed the beast.
So in the end. 4BT or any other little Turbo Diesel is all you can do. 6BT is out of the question.

A 4bt weights 700 lbs the same as a chevy big block. If you off road that will throw off your weight balance and have a nose heavy rig which you don't want. The vw tdi swap is a lot lighter but also the most pricey to do.Honestly only things i would ever diesel swap is a full size pickup because it fits a lot easier and as a daily driver its worth the mpg you pick up.Any jeep i would stroke the 4.0 to a 4.6 or do a ls swap.

Hahaha. I was just kidding about the 6bt. Thought the ' daaaaaaang ' might give it away lol.
But in all seriousness, I'd personally dig a VW tdi swap. Would be cool. Just have EVguy make all my adapters then pretty much just copy his build lol.
