Maybe its just bad luck but every professional mechanic I've met except one has been extremely rude and condescending to me. They talk like THEY are the ones in charge. Excuse me but this is my vehicle, I don't want your attitude, your alternative, or your upsale, I'm not a 16 year old girl I'm not buying any of your bull**** "strong recommendations" half of which are either lies or ignorance and all of which seem to cost $30 extra, that's not the kind of behavior I want to see from someone that I'm planning to allow to work on the most expensive (and valued) thing I own. Just do what I tell you, with a smile. What ever happened to customer service?

My reasoning behind my own mechanical work (besides the fact that I enjoy it) is mostly because I can't trust any of the "professionals" around here. They all have screwed me over one way or another, and also I can't afford their exorbitant prices. This way I save tons of $$, and KNOW all about the work that was done to my vehicle and trust that it was done in my best interests.

I see two types of people in this thread... one side had their mommy put a helmet and pads on them before the walked outside and the others are the kid bads$$s you know jumping s*** doing cool stuff not even knowing what pads are.
1st is all the people that are b****ing in here
2nd is the people that have no sway bars and still haven't died
