Default is it better to weld or bolt on rock sliders?

I am just starting to weld up a set of rock sliders, I am curious if I should weld or bolt the legs of them to the frame. I know I need to weld the pinch seam but what about where it attaches in the center of the jeep.. ? Thanks

Bolt it and if you really want more security, weld it as well. Every company that sells them gives you hardware to bolt them on.

I agree, unless you think, for any reason, you will take them off at some point.

But it is always a good idea to cover all your bases. It can't hurt to lay down a bead as extra insurance.

use jack stands to line up the slider, then mark the frame where it needs to be drilled for the holes. Pretty easy.

It's really easy to cut through a weld and take those off. It would take longer than undoing the bolts, but it's not difficult nor all that time consuming. Angle grinder? Check. Cutting wheel? Check. 110V power source? Check. It really is that easy, and a good weld around it will be far, far stronger than bolts. If you plan on pulling them frequently, bolt it. If you want to leave them on and beat the **** out of them for a couple years, weld it. Easy as Sarah Palin's daughters.

i did both but didnt trust the thin fram rail since i havent built stiffners yet. i would say **** with the bolts. i know i wish i wouldnt have used the bolts and all that "fun drilling". lay a quick bead be done with it much easier and you dont have to worry about lining bolt hole up. like i said unless you have stiffners the frame rail is thin dont bother with the bolts. just my 3 pennies short of a nickle
