Default Beep, beep

I've owned ole 91 Cherokee for about 12 years, but not one to hurry things, I finally got around to fixing the horns today. A little cleaning, a little deoxit, some new parts in the column, and today is the first time I have ever heard both horns. Now, what next and what kind of time-table are we looking at?

Seeing the massive skills you demonstrated fixing the horns, I suggest a 4bt diesel swap. You should be able to bang it out in a day

Rotate the air in the tires. It's way past due.

In another 12 years you may want to tackle that right taillight that has been out for a while.

Actually, I worked at a trucking company back in the 80's. A driver called and said he was 100# over weight. I told him to go around his rig and let 6# of air out of each tire and he would be legal. The real problem was, he believed me.

Default little victories

I'm just celebrating a little victory. I have a laundry list and next are a couple of problems that are not so simple. Last fall I redid the brakes--wheel cylinders, shoes, and hardware on the rears; pads and one new caliper on the front; and finally, master cylinder. But, I still have a slow leak somewhere and the dash light stays on all the time. I fill the rear brakes reservoir about once a month, oh, and I don't drive Jeep but maybe 200 miles a month. There are no visible signs of a leak except the mc itself looks like its been boiling over all along. When I had the column down routing the cable for a new multi-switch (among some other fixes) I noticed the boot on the brake pedal looked shot, and had a little shiny, oily look to it. But there are no puddles in the carpet. Brakes seem solid--maybe a little more travel than I would like.

The other is right front axle. Its running out of round. It is the axle, and not the wheel. I think the right front is in two pieces--an outer and intermediate shaft. I've been looking at exploded views and haven't gotten a fix for sure if its a bearing or what. My manual (Haynes) is right about half the time on anything, so I don't have a lot to go on. Next week I'll start turning some wrenches and hope I still have a car to drive if I don't hit a brick wall.
