Default Back Seat Modification

I have a 2001 XJ and was wondering if anyone has attempted to cut the backrest part of the backseat vertically. Maybe a 50/50 split or a 60/40 split. I would like to be able to fold a portion of the seat down and put a few snowboards in the back while still being able to have a person or 2 fit in the back.

Swap in some ZJ rear seats. They got the 60/40 split and are way more comfy than the XJ rear seat. Look it up on here. Ive seen it a few times.

I would personally just try pulling the seats you want from another car and figuring out a way to install them
proper surgery on that old fabric sounds like it would be a*****
but do you not have a roof rack at all?

The ZJ swap doesnt seem like a bad idea. No roof rack yet. I know I know that would solve all of my problems for snowboarding, however, it wouldn't solve my problems when the zombies come and I need to get people AND supplies out safely.

not sure bout these forums but i know there are write ups on the ZJ conversion around, and i do recall seeing a write up where the guy used the stock seat for a 50/50 setup and even added headrests but it was a crap load of custom work for something that was just as easily done with zj seats
