Default comanche 2.5

OK, so a car lot in my area has a 1989 comanche there selling for 2000 (originally wanted 2900 talked them down a bit). just wondering about the 2.5? is it good motor, are they dependable and what kind of millage can i get out of it. and how hard would it be to swap a 4.0 in?

specs on the truck are 2.5, 5speed 4x4.

the 2.5 is as useful as any other 2.5 from any other XJ... i've seen some go for some time, and others not soo much... If your gonna swap to the 4.0 your gonna need a complete engine harness, and also will have to move your crossmember back... (other than the obvious, 4.0, trans, t-case, 4wd front axle, etc)

As a former owner of a 2.5 MJ if it doesnt burn oil, or have any crazy oil leaks they are a dependable motor for a STOCK rig. No lift and definately not bigger tires. The cool thing about that model 2.5 is it is TBI injected, which means very lil comp control so real easy to work on.

The price is way HIGH though. at best it is a 1750 vehicle if it has no issues at all. I mean zero rust, no engine/driveline issues, and no interior damage.

DOnt expect to get more then high teen fuel economy if you drive like you have sense, or way less then that if you drive like a nascar driver.

I hate the 2.5. I had it in a YJ and that thing was slow as *****. Amazing what an extra 2 cylinders get ya. If I bought another YJ it would have to be a 4.2 or 4.0.
