Default anyone building ladder bars or the like

anyone building ladder bars or the like? I'm going to build some here in the next week or two, just wana see some homebrew link bar setups. I'm about tired of axle wrapping this thing, broke 2 rear yokes this weekend.

I know how to build them no problem, curious how long I should make them, I do a lot of wheelin' and last thing I wana worry about is the wrong articulation from having to short of a bar

They are called anti wrap bars in the Rock crawling world. Most ppl who run them build them with a flex joint and a shackle. Also you will need to build a crossmember. ALso most ppl who run these have them kinda close to the center of the vehicle.

Tack it in place, test flex it, then weld it up

Any reason not to build a tq arm instead? They telescope, mount to top and bottom, and seem like it would do the job rather easily.

I'm from the drag racing world, so dont rib me too hard. I still run a tq arm in my race car for stock suspension classes, and a lot of mustang guys are starting to switch to them as well

I think ladder bars would be excessive and probably limit your flex. My buddy's YJ was breaking u-joints and yokes every weekend (350 powered on 38s) so we installed one of these a couple weeks ago http://www.mountainoffroad.com/_e/Tr...7_and_YJ_s.htm
Very straight forward simple install. Just have to follow the instructions and get the angles right. Hasn't broken anything since and he's been trying. I don't see one listed for an XJ from this company but I don't see why you couldn't fab up a little crossmember and make it work.

I've seen Camaro guys running them for years. Honestly never seen it done on a Mustang, the stock setup with good parts, set up right and an anti-roll bar works great. I'd like to hear more about the Camaro, and the Tahoe. You damn "cam only" lsx guys

^^ thats exactly what I was going to build, thats basically a tq arm

this is the one on my car

camaro is a 408ci with nitrous"200" for the class . everything you can think of is done. right now I still have a "full" interior, it weighs 3199lb without me. I'm in the middle of changine the seats out for kirkeys, lightweight carpet, and taking out a few things like windshield wipers and crash bars, get around 3000 raceweight, I can weigh 2925 in Real Street, and I need to take as much out as I can and add it back where I want it. The tahoe is just my DD, 220 TR cam and bolt ons.

heres a vid with old motor(stock bore 6.0 with 175 shot)
old motor too...or should I say end of old motor

I need some new vids. Shes a mid 8 sec car now, 408 with MAST heads

Don't be sorry, I love it, it's your thread haha. Very cool car. I might drive a mustang but I'm a Chevy guy at heart. It was just the cheapest easiest way to go fast when I was 17 then I fell in love with fox bodies. Someday it will have a 400+ inch sbc or lsx. I love the onboard vid. Definitely get some vids of some 8 sec passes. Is that 2925 with you in it? I had the same goal with my car, got as much weight out as possible so I could put it where I want it to make it hook. It's amazing the junk that's in the interior. I got at least 200lbs just out of the interior. Still have to do crash bars and a couple other things. Haven't weighed it yet but should be around 2700 without me right now. We'll do that when we set up the suspension. Can't really set up the suspension and test it in the middle of the winter though. Gonna be hard hooking a nitrous stick car on a 9" tire but we got some tricks in the rear suspension. In a friend's turbo mustang we added 200lbs underneath the rear bumper cover to get it to hook on the street. Do you drive yours on the street at all?

Torque arm idea would work mint in the Jeep btw if it's set up right.

If you can get a timing controller, just pull a bunch of timing on takeoff, so you can spray it out of the hole and once it hits a certain RPM, ramp the timing back in. Should get you hooked. Like, mine is setup now with 10 degrees total until 5200, the converter flashes 4800ish when I leave, then never sees below 5200 after I leave, so its 19 degrees from 5200-8000. Not sure how yours is setup.

I'm prob not gona make it to 2925 raceweight, theres not that much more to pull out, i'd say 250-300lbs at the most I can get rid of, that includes cutting a few things out. Camaros are pigs

I have a digital 6 that will be used to pull timing on the spray. It's nothing too fancy though. I have confidence we can make it hook. At the track is the easy part, on the street will be interesting. I'm dead set on not running anymore tire. The rear suspension has all the right parts, we just have to change a couple things and get it set up. Worst case I'll start adding weight.

Anything bolt-on for the Chrysler rear, no welding.
