Airbox replacement?

Airbox replacement?
Is there something better than the stock airbox. I don't mean just to replace it with k&n and have a huge cone filter. My blowback is ridiculous my catch can is half full after only driving around town. For all I know it could be a bigger problem, any words of wisdom?
Maybe I should just make a build post for my '88...

CCV hoses nice and clear inside? Front valve cover fitting properly?
