I drift all the time. Its just on snow covered pavement, or off road.

I understand doing something different, and thats great. But this idea...isn't great. If you wanna be the only guy drifting a Jeep, congrats, but thats not what this platform is meant for. Whether you've seen vids of it or not.

I'll post a vid of someone driving their Jeep off a cliff. Will you attempt that, too?

i have drifted a couple times in a rained out parking lot to impress girls. but im 18 and thats my job, to do stupid stuff. but a my cherokee is nothing like my cousins 06 mustang. that thing will keep spinning till you let go of the throttle. cherokee on the other hand. i have had it slip up on my in the middle of a turn. and it was scary, im glad it was wet and i kept sliding. but if you want to try it, take video i like to see flips on or off road. lol

So this is a slow motion video of a jeep on WET pavement! you can clearly see the inside tire lifting even on wet pavement and being in the throttle the entire time... It is not worth it to drift/slide a cherokee....

Anybody that comes to a Jeep forum and asks about drifting clearly doesn't know two KEY points.

#1 Anything about drifting
#2 Anything about Jeeps

Deadline for Darwin Award 2010 has past, but you still have a chance for 2011 if you can get it on video!

i have done it, on pavement, dry. takes some getting used to. i dont reccomend it.

the problem lies towards the end of the drift, once you catch traction again my lack of swaybars turns the momentum the rig had into body roll and it jostles you around and you lost the speed you were trying to keep anyway.

Have people adapted and maybe taken a different approach to drifting an abnormal vehicle yes. But drifting a Jeep (in the traditional sense - dry pavement) is idiotic.

Here is an example of an interesting vehicle drifting.

thats a sweet video, correct me if im wrong but i think thats a video where he has an ARB locker in the rear. and the tire lifts up so the other still has traction cuz its locked. now if its an open diff that tire thats in the air will be givin power instead of the tire on the ground causing no spinning in the tire on the ground causing traction and a flip..??? thats no bien!!!!!

And the reason that even works that well is because there's almost no suspension in the rear, or at least a suspension that's so stiff (designed to haul heavy loads) that it doesn't allow the vehicle to roll much.

your best bet for drifting a jeep would be to do a 10inch lift removed all sway bars and get up too like 40mph and take a turn really fast while giving it gas.

Agreed.

I'd say its become quite worthless, but that would imply it was worth something to begin with.

Well one things for sure, it won't help it. Especially in a 10 yr old + truck.

It will kick the tail out on snow no problem, at least I can very easily in the snow and its a hoot !

I drift mine in the snow just for fun but never on pavement. It is alot of fun without the wasted tires, and wasted drivetrain.

If you don't wanna start replacing U Joints and possibly even differentials, not to mention your tranny I say go for it. Perhaps you have access to free parts and labor.

But spinning any drive train is terrible and will only lead to eventual failure.

Even towing a vehicle in Neutral isn't good for the same reasons.

I hope that this isn't your GrandMa's Jeep or anything !!
