Looking good. 7018 lays down a nice bead, but I hate all the slag, LOL

X2 on that, never new I could hate such a pretty weld lol, Try some 6010 and see the difference in work it takes to get an as pretty bead lol I hate stick. I'm also in an intro to welding class(been welding for years) I needed a extra credit hour so I figured I can use all there equipment to make bumpers for the jeep and its free lol. We're working with TIG now, haven't done that in about 2 years I'll post up some pics later

We started with 6011 and it took a quite of bit of practice to get a nice bead, especially since we need to stop half way, restart and backstep for the assignment. So I've had a lot of work to get halfway decent. I think we use Miller multimatics, their huge, and can TIG, MIG, and SMAW. stick welding is so tedious and fussy I've learned

Most reliable and applicable in most situations. Very good to have some stick know how. It gets the job done and can look great with practice

Welding thread!!!!-snapchat-20140315013402.jpg

Can you judge this weld? Its been a while since I've welded and the welder I have is iffy. Its flux core. A peice of angle iron welded on some pipe. It was just scrap I had laying around. Sorry, My phone takes terrible pictures and any advice is apprietiated. A buddy gave me the welder for free At the end of it my welded started to act up so I quit.

Looks good to me. My thing is always take your time, don't rush through a weld pass.
