So after my last trip wheeling i came back knowing that if i wanted to keep my rockers dent free i needed some sliders. So i went to my local metal works shop and got this,
2"x4"x1/4"x64" box steel
Then got a 4' piece of 2"x2"x1/4" box steel, a 4' piece of 1"x1"x3/16" angle iron, two 45" long pieces of 3"x3"x1/4" angle iron.
Armed with all that i went to work. I first used the 3"x3" angle to plate the frame. I drilled 1" holes all along the side and bottom of both pieces and plug welded them on. I then cut the 1"x1" angle iron into 4 1' pieces and drilled 4 1/4" holes in each 1. I bolted them to the pinch seams where my legs would run. I then cut the 2"x2" into 4 1' pieces and mocked them up and welded them to the previously bolted on angle iron. I then removed the legs and welded them to the 2"x4" box.
I finished it by attaching them to the jeep and welded the legs to the 3"x3" angle. Add paint. I still gotta weld caps on the ends but thats it.

Were you intending on using them as steps as well? You might have an issue with rocks hitting the pinch seam/support bars instead of the sliders. Also, since they stick out so far, the spots where it attaches to the pinch seams may act as a pivoting point. I'm sure they'd be fine for most stuff though. Definitely a good step. Unless its the camera angle as stated earlier?

Well its partly the angle but i also wanted them to stick out a little bit more than normal so i could utilize them as a step. But u nailed it! Haha. They are exactly 12" from the frame.

I believe they will work fine for what im looking to do. Im not a hardcore offroader, im just looking a little extra protection. Thanks though for the opinions!

The pics make it look worse trust me! Lol. Like i said, they are multi purpose. The gf is kinda short. Haha. If all else fails i'll cut them back 2"s. but i kinda like 'em like they are. If they fail horribly (im sure they'll work fine) then they'll get shortened.
