The ends of the legs are welded to the 3x3 then i cut some flat stock and placed on the out side of the legs against the 3x3 and placed two more welds. Im gonna do the tops and bottoms also. They are just for a little extra support.

On the right side of the pic, is that bolted to the unibody?

I'm new to welding...sorry for my ignorance I will google plug weld...those are nice sliders though! Would 3/16 square tubes be good? My welder will only do up to that thickness.

3/16 should be fine yes. For just steps, id use 1/8". 3/16 would be overkill unless you haul a sumo wrestler around.

I used 1/4" because i dont want to ever worry at all! Lol. Its overkill but i plan on tying them into an exo soon.
