Any updates? I'm really interested in these. I won't be getting any parts for the Jeep for Christmas, so I'd like to buy myself a little something to lift the spirits. Plus, I think my Jeep deserves a gift.

Heres the first set, just bent and welded. In a bit I'll test fit them and see what changes need to be made, if any. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but its better than anything.

They look great so far! I can't wait 'till I can get my hands on a set. I'm gonna have to buy some new lights since I sold my Hella 500's and factory style fogs just wouldn't look right on them haha.

I see one potential issue. The other brackets have 2 bends in the portion that fits to the Jeep. I think you may have to add another bend in your design...have you test fit them on an XJ yet?? I like the fact that they are one piece, that should make them markedly stronger...

I didn't think about that. I just looked at the A-pillar on my '94 and it looks like this design would work if it doesn't go past the bend in the A-pillar. Although using both bends would make the bracket much more stable.

To simplify the design I went with one bend but its still not quite right so I need to go back to the drawing board and make one change. Mainly its so the screws have some meat to grab, this design has them near the edge of the pillar. The weld went together great and they're strong as (insert your own smart-*** line here). I test them on a co-workers xj as I still...haven't bought mine yet

I was hoping to have these done this week but its looking more like early January since our factory shuts down tomorrow for the winter. I'd rather have them done right and you guys end up with something that will outlast your XJ then sell some crap.

the more stable the better. It really sucks driving down a trail when your lights are bouncing around more than you. I am very interested in buying a set, but I am on a very tight budget thanks to the wife if they were being sold for around $20 a pair she might let me get them at $30-$50 a pair she will never let me get them.

Sounds good. The sooner the better, but as you said, it's better to sell quality parts than junk. As someone else stated before, the more stable the better. I can't stand bouncing lights, and I won't use them if they do bounce. Bouncing lights is the primary reason I sold my Hella 500's. They were very top heavy and had to be mounted on extention tabs to fit on my stock bumper and they bounced like a 7 year old on a trampoline on a saturday afternoon after drinking 5 bottles of soda while watching cartoons and eating pop rocks. (You get the hint)

On another note, what would be the cleanest way to run the wires for these things?

I'd definitely be willing to buy a set and test em out for you/all of us. Just let me know how much you want for em. I give my XJ hell everywhere I take it so we'll find out real qiuck how stable they are.

I was just thinking about where to run wires also............. Another small hole in the middle of the bracket where it attaches to the A pillar could be drilled to run the wires inside and down to a fuse? You can put a little grommet on it or just silicon the hell out of it? As long as you can waterproof it somehow.

I was also thinking of a hole drilled to run the wires, but for some dumb reason I never thought of telling the designer to incorporate it into the design, I was just going to drill the hole when I got them. If you run a bead of silicone around the back side of the backet before you bolt it down and around the wire you run through it should seal up just fine.

P.S. You're not the only one who runs their Jeep hard. I beat the ever living snot out of my Jeep (Without physically abusing it, just running it as hard as possible). But if anyone else ever drove my Jeep the way I do, I'd kill 'em.

As long as it's sealed good it should be ok. I hate fighting water leaks.

And yeah since it's not my DD I beat it up. Need to cut on the fenders cause I curled em up pretty good rollin through some rocky stuff and now it looks like hell. Oh well!

Mine is my daily driver and I still beat the crap out of it I love it though, I really do. So does everybody else around here too apparently...... I get stopped atleast every other day by somebody wanting to ask me a question about it, or tell me it's cool, or take a picture of/with it.

Lol, well at least it gets some attention. Mine sits in the barn more than it gets driven. But when I fire it up I let it have it!
