oh come on im sure as good of a job you did with your half doors youll make yours come out clean. why buy another one when you already own one. hell just go to the j/y with a couple batteries for the sawzall and cut one up and see what your dealing with. i did that with my junk one and now im wanting to start with mine. maybe when the wife isnt looking

The doors I built were from a junk yard, so if i messed up, I still had my stock ones...but im thinking about getting some real cheap cherokee to try it out and see what im doing, then eventually do it with my original cherokee when i have more confidence

thats what im talking about. i bought a wrecked xj last week for 200$ and now i have a practice toy. granted i should have taken more thought into the whole cut at first but just wanted to see what was under the metal after i cut so i can get a idea. thats when the wife walked out and i told her i wanted to do it to mine and she said no way in hell.

for my top exo bars, I call them tree sliderz lol. They are welded top and bottom of the roof line, welded to the rear part(end of chopped area), which are then welded to the rear bars which are welded to the rear 1/4s to bring the strength back. But yeah, This is my exo in the making. I am hoping to finish it up this winter. My jeep spends most of the time on 3 tires when I am on the trail. lol. Had I not caged the rear portion after the chop, It prolly wouldn't do as good as it does on three tires. lol. For those who want to chop and get rid of your doors, I got $30 for scrapping them which covered some tubing cost lol. And it takes 405 lbs off your xj.

Ya im thinking about buying a wrecked one but i want to find one that runs, figure 2 jeeps instead of 1.5 jeeps would be better because i know im going to want to drive around the one i tear apart....no wife here, so money is the only thing holding me back.

I have seen many ways of doing this and I chose to put in the small side window. this left all the head room I need for rear seat and also gave me great storage behind the rear seat. only change I needed to make on the inside was swap out the shoulder belts for lap belts. Also by retaining the rear gate opening and rear gate (now welded together) it made the cabin extremely strong.

on the cheap end, while still doing everything the right way? A minimum of around $4-5K if I had to guess.
