I was wondering how hard the factory one was to get off? I was contemplating trying. To replace mine with a pistol grip sort of handle

Love the pistol grip idea. Anyone have pics of this already finished?

Got some lifting eye bolts on eBay (marine item) to use as tie down points on my roof. I have been working as a house painter, it's good for preventing ladders from sliding on the roof.

As easy as a quick second of the angle grinder...lol. removing the whole assembly from the body was a different story, all my bolts were rusted and I had to drill every single one of them out and replace them with stainless steel hardware. Not such a bad thing.

You could probably even skip welding to the cut lever, and use a tap/die kit to thread the end of it to your liking.

They should not leak any more then the bolts that are already in the roof from the stock roof rack. I removed the rack because I got thule bars.
You could also use a rubber washer or some silicone if you are the type of person who doesn't leave anything to chance.

I don't quite understand the question, I used a 250 ton press brake and a louvre die to fab them up.

I made a few sets, PM me perhaps we can do some horse trading!
