Take a bedsheet and try to lay it smooth against your ceiling... Get the idea?

I did my headliner with an aftermaket sunroof. Yeah, it sucked and was a pain in the *** and didn't come out perfect, but id never done one before and it was good experience. It's not really that bad, just kinda annoying really

I had read a thread where the OP pulled out the headliner and laid it on a table. Removed the old fabric. Sprayed the adhesive and laid the new fabric on it. Tucked the excess and it look great!

I've done several like this. It would be near impossible to do with the board in the jeep, and it would look really bad after like a week.

I have seen some people paint theirs, though you have to be quite careful in the prep work. I.e removing the old foam without damaging the foam board, and getting all of the foam off, then prepping the surface properly for paint. Some people bedline them too, but I don't like that idea haha. Apparently there are a couple of different types of headliner boards that came in these jeeps, the style of board that you have well determine the best course of action for your preferred covering method.

When you're re-upholstering the board you have more room for error, but the adhesive part becomes really important.

Yeah, here's a picture.
The giant hole is there for the sunroof mechanism. After I upholstered the foam I literally had to put this in the jeep, lay it on the seats then spray adhesive on the fabric then on the bottom of the sunroof mech and just stick it up. It was pretty custom to say the least.

That looks sweet! The moldings are what keep the headliner in place? And what is the name of the material you use to replace what you currently have on a headliner?

Installed lights in my lift gate for camping
Bottle opener is a tailgating must have
And I wired an old siren unit and PA system out of an old squad car under the tray in the center counsel

Headliner material. Fabric stores should sell it. You can use pretty much anything that you can spray the adhesive on, a buddy of mine used a fleece blanket.

Not really sure of the name of the material but I got it at JoAnn fabrics. I actually had a hard time finding the material
