The bracket on the axle side (trac bar), are you doing an axle centered or offset mount? And why?

I have my JCR otk kit and I gotta decide what to do for my trac bar. I've got a vacuum disco d30, so my options aren't as good as they would be without the disco.

I was thinking Ruff Stuff's panhard bar kit.

I have a bit of bump steer and feel like the shorter trac bar puts more stress on other components at full droop since it swings on a shorter arc. Tho, the stress part may just be in my head. It hasn't damaged anything that way and people do it that way all the time. I have no intentions of changing it.

I'm not exactly sure on the length but I mounted mine in almost the exact same spot as you.

It's dirty as hell but you can see it in this picture. Kinda.

Well, i ordered ballistics offset over the axle bracket because its the only way to clear the upper control arm mount on the d30. What I need to find out this evening is once my drag link is in, are the track bar and the drag link be parallel not only looking from the front, but looking down the passenger side. If they are out of parallel from the side, there may be issues with bump steer. If so, I will plate the unibody and move my track bar frame end foreword to make them parallel

I wouldn't think bump steer would be an issue with them being out of parallel on that plane. It shouldn't move much front to rear... and if it does it'll be only at full up/travel and not at speeds.

That's pretty much what I was thinking

Awesome, that explains exactly what I wanted to know.

I'm trying to put together my front end and I'm still learning.

Would you or anyone else be able to explain the reason for frame inside or frame outside mount? What would determin which I one I need?

It's a combination of two. It's the TNT D44 "truss" (it's not really a truss but a place to mount an upper link over the differential.) then boxed it in a welded 2x6x.25 to that to finish it out.

Started like this.

then

The xj needs outside frame mount because the stock one bolts to the outside and the bottom. The "L" shape wraps around the outside of the xj unibody. Some vehicles have inside style track bar mounting on the frame. I suggest you buy ballistic fabrication's axle side like I have, and their adjustable frame side (frame outside). That way u have holes at 2.5", 3.5", and 4.5 to set your track bar angle the way you would like to match drag link

Well change of plans. I'm no longer going to run tabs off the tie rod to connect the drag link. I'm just going to run 3 5/8 high misalignment spacers and 2 heims off one bolt

Drag link together! Decided to just go from pitman to knuckle and run 3 high misalignment recucers to 5/8. Track bar and drag link perfect parallel on both planes. Will be driving by tomorrow night

Did you weld to the cast/center section? Did you use Mig or stick weld it??

Center section was stick with nickel rod and a lot of heat before and after.

Have you seen the Ruff Stuff panhard kit I was talking about?

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f10/pa...ffstuff-91236/

Its a pretty good kit. Adjustable on both sides.
