i tried to make some gutter mount roof rack bars off a van work on my 94 xj and it didnt really work. when i tighten them down the L bracket that hooks on the bottom slides out and is starting to pull the trim of the gutter off. i had cut them to the correct length so they sit perfectly in the top of the gutter.
does anyone have any ideas for some cheap gutter mounts?

JCR Offroad. Built specifically for your XJ and quite affordable. When I get ready to build my own roof rack I will be buying these. Real good price, and these guys do quality work and their customer service is top notch!

I kinda agree but disagree at the same time. Think about how much prototyping is involved, and the design time. then factor in the fact that the price of steel, then labor involved in cutting them out, and bending them. Did I mention he ties his money up till the parts sell. Price seems fair. Lets see you build and sell them for less, keeping in mind he has to pay employees and insurance.
Waiting to see some one do it for less

Actually, there is another place doing the same piece, looks damn close, and they charge the same price. $40 for all four is a damn good deal. Don't think of it as money spent, think of it as time your not using, time you can use to build the rest of your roof rack. Then when they show up, weld em on!

If you don't like the price of the brackets you can buy from JCR. You can copy his design on his own rack I guess. It seem really simple to copy. (Sorry. Not real sure why the light pic is there.)
