Default Front auto-locker question:

I have one, and I think there may be an issue. It is making A LOT of noise. I have been trying to convince myself that it is normal, but it's not working, so I need you guy's help. It is locking, but it makes WAY more noise than the rear one does. Is this normal??? It sounds like it is disengaging, and reengaging, and it will do this while driving down the trail, more often when turning, and a lot more when really "using the locker" on a harder obstacle. With all of this noise, I will be looking into a selectable...SOON, even if it is normal!! I just can't ignore it anymore!! LOL!! Thanks for the help guys!!

Depends on the brand. Lock-Right and Aussie are always loud.

It is a Quik Lock brand, and I don't mind it being an auto, but the noises are disturbing to say the least!! I might start looking at a Detroit, I think they are quieter.

Kyle,
Selectable locker...seriously. Once you've had one you'll wonder why you ever bothered with the lunchbox up front.

I know, and the one I would really be into, is the one you hate...OX. I just don't like the air hose set up on ARBs. I saw a guy this weekend loose both locker due to a leak, he was kinda screwed!! Any advise, I've been looking at prices and what not?? For about $8-$900.00, I can into one. I'll set the gears up, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal...

I have an aussie up front...its not very loud. i cant hear it while im driving. Offroad, once im in 4wheel, it stays locked about 99 percent of the time. the 1 percent it allows some wheel slippage is when im making a sharp turn.

i have a lock-rite up front and it's very quiet. even quieter than my rear lock-rite.
yours should be quiet if it was installed correctly. if yours is anything like mine, there should be a small spring installed inside a larger spring, then the pins should be installed with copious amounts of grease.

but i agree, go for a selectable locker like the ox you mentioned. that would be my choice too. if money was no matter.

but i'll probably go with the eaton e-locker in my hp44 when it gets in. good and cheap.
