Default frameee just some thoughts?

i wouldnt attempt it but i read about people putting wrangler frames under xjs. ive seen em and imo they look pretty dumb. but what if you cut out the unibody frame rails completly and built your own custom frame for it and just add reinforcentment point to the bottom of the xj to mount to your custom frame. just thought about it and was wondering y it couldnt be done

It can be done, if you got the right tools and knowledge you can build a frame for anything, even out of round tube if you wanted to. A buddy of mine just got done building a rock buggy, no square tube on it no where, all done with round. So its all about money and having the right stuff to do it.

its one of the most common mods done by xjers. we just don't rip the "subframe" out and start from scratch it is "silly". what people do do all of the time and if you do a search will come up with a bunch of stuff is strengthen the subframe by plating it in 1/4 sheet metal or something like that. additional cross members, rocker guards that go from the subframe and tie into the unibody, or i roll cage. i would also buy these and give them a try http://www.rocdogfab.com/index.php?p...hk=1&Itemid=59

I got to lookin at mine one day, a man could build a frame and leave the unibody under the jeep. Use it as the majority of the body to the frame and still tuck the frame where it isnt seem. If i ever just run across some good 2x4 or even 2x3 id say most likely ill lay some out and probably build a frame for mine, though if i do, it will be 4 linked front and rear with no coils, full widths and nitrogen shocks on all 4 corners.

IN my opinion.. ppl dont replace the rails, cause if you are going to do that much work might as well build a buggy. I am seriously thinking that is what I will do next. Just think it would be easier not to have the vehicle in the way for the design process. I still might cheat and use a front end from whatever make I end up building. Really liking the idea of building a yota os samuri next.
