customizing the dash??
i have a 91 XJ and i want to put a 7" touchscreen in it at a later date. i know it is possible to move the A/C vent that is located right below the A/C controls. im just wondering if i can move that vent and them move the controls down and then put my screen there. has anyone done this or know of someone who has? im just wondering how difficult it would be. here are a few pics i found...the fist pic is what it looks like stock. the second pic is the vent moved. and the third pic is what this guy did with the extra hole.
Props to jeepjoe96 for doing this: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3200813/r1

You could just get a motorized fold out one, that way you don't have to move anything. Isn't that what that guy has now anyways? A motorized touchscreen, then another regular head unit? Or am I missing something? Why would you need two?

You can find them cheaper than this one, but I was already on Crutchfield's website...

i could get a motorized one. i had one for awhile tho in my current car and had no luck with it. it quit working in less than a year so i kinda want to steer away from those. and im not sure why he needs to radios. im not even sure how you would go about wiring that up lol. i just want a full screen there. i love the way it looks.

I would just cap the vent off. That one always points down anyways, kinda useless in my jeep. But to even put in a motorized one you would have to at least reverse the A/C controls and the radio and im not even sure if that would work. The dash lip is the main problem in these model xj's.

Its not easy... lol if you want to put a Full size DD in you have to cut the vent housing seal it up and cut a bracket out in back... then move everything down...it can be done... its just a real pain to do
