Check the link in my signature, Matt. Everything you need to know to do both fronts and the 60/40 rear.

Im wanting to fab up my own rear bumper, nothing really special just something to get the job done and be sturdy at the same time. I have seen a post on here before with a diagram but i'll be damned if i cant find it! But if anyone has a diagram drawn up with specifications or know of a post with them on it would be a great deal of help seeing as i have no clue where to start.

thanks,
Andrew

Where exactly should I silicone? At the base of the plug wires?

Thinking of starting to fab up some custom stiffeners and rock rails, how far forward and back to the stiffeners need to run? and stitch welding with bolts through the rails are the best ways to affix them right? I was planning on stitch welding the stiffeners in, then running the bolts for the rock rails through the stiffener and rail, with a backing plate, and have both of the bolt plates welded down as well

Ideally from the front to the back.

doing from the LCA mounts to the front leaf spring hanger is what most people start with.

i dunno if i would weld and bolt it. seems to me like drilling holes in the frame would weaken while your trying to streanthen it too. id just get it fix where i wanted it then just buzz it in. and yes stich welding it the best way of doing to as to keep from transfering too much heat and make sure you move around alot and give time to cool.

what about the rock rails? after I weld on the stiffener I'll have to bolt through the frame and stiffener to install them right? that's why I was planning on running bolts through for the most part

The best way to bolt anything through frame rails if you're using 1/2" bolts would be to get some 7/8" .180 wall HREW use a 7/8" hole saw where you want the hole and then stick the tubing in and weld it to the stiffeners/frame rail which will actually add strength and allow you to crank that bolt down as tight as you want without crushing the frame rail. HREW does have a seam on the inside so you'd need to double check that a 1/2" bolt will fit inside, if it wont just use DOM.

ooh, great idea, I'll have to do that when I build em. if I wasn't so short on cash right now I'd be working on it instead of posting here lol.

Are you looking to build new control arms? otherwise this isnt the place to post your question! The fabrication section is for fab ONLY, advanced tech will have your lifts/bolt on parts, & oem tech is for maintnence stuff! here... https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/al...go-here-10579/

Your only lifting the truck .5", you don't need to change control arms!

so are you looking for the lenghts of the control arms upper/lower that go with the coils you got? if so your best bet might be to call a RE dealer and ask them to measure them then use them measurements for yours to build.
