I plan on using exhaust tubing cause my dad owns a shop and I have a endless supply of it for cheap. I dont do anything rough enough to come close to rolling over. Pretty much only wheeling I do is getting to camp sites and when out working in woods or fields with my pops.

But why do all the work of bending it and making it look good just for looks. If you're gonna build a cage you mind as well spend a little extra and do it right

Than I can have a awning on the side of the jeep to hang tarps to ground and store my quad at night and other camping stuff. This exo and roof cage will be built out of exhaust tubing and will not be used as roll over protection though.
thats the silliest thing i ever heard. if you can dent it with a light tap from a hammer it has no business being a structural piece.

It wouldn't be for structure or roll over protection. Just used as a roof rack and platform for a tent. I don't do anything crazy enough to come close to rolling over. Exhaust tubing is what I have at hand and I'll use it and it will be plenty strong enough to hold a tent.

Just because it will kinda be in place if a cage but isn't strong enough to take any impact

Its not a cage. I won't be rolling it. Call it a accident if I do roll it but having exhaust tubing isn't going to be any worse than having nothing. All i will be doing is runnin a piece from rocker up the a pillar and one in the rear just to hold the roof rack. Only doing it so I don't have to use gutter mounts and will hold more weight. We have some Dom left over from our buggys but I just think its a waste to use it when I'm only wanting it to hold up the roof rack

well it is better than nothing strength wise although not much but i still wanna see what it looks like all done with the tent on top theres not alot of expedition style xj builds and might spark some creative fab from others its still alot more original than a fender cut and budget boost i say go for it
