Lol my dad had that made for us so a couple of my cousins and I could race it. Let us have fun and he got some free advertising out of it with his company on the side. Man that had to be 10-12 years ago. Some great memory's.

And thanks for the comment.

I cut half the tube every 1/4in. ware I needed to bend it then welded the cuts back up. The fenders did get some support just mounted some 1/8 steel to the back of the fender to the inner fender. I can stand on them... so they hold 170+lbs
I'm so confused, why do they call them tube fenders when they are flat?

They are called tube fenders cause you use tube to make the outline of the flare than plate it. And hooligan nice work. Like the brass knuckle touch.

Found pics I thought I lost of what my floors look like when I started. Just wanted to post these up to show how far your floors can be rusted and still fixed.

Thinking about going 2x6 on mine rockers too, but do you only cut the outer rocker panel?
Any work necessary on the inner panel?

You only will have to mess with the inner rocker if your inner is bad or rotted out. Every rocker build will be a little different. I just did mine and found it to be a pretty easy process if you can use common sense fab work.

JeepKing's build is a good guide in my opinion, I used most of my ideas on mine from his build, except I created a new inner rocker, but my floors are out so I had that ability. http://www.northjerseyjeepclub.org/s...-rockers/page2

Check out my build and you can see how I did mine. The 1 inch 1/8 flat under the lip made for really good welds on the sheet metal. I hammered and dollied the lip of the old rocker line around the 1 inch. flat and used angle on the inner, plug weld holes on bottom and stitch along the seam.
Make sure that you clean up any rust that is in there, and figure out where on the 2x6 you can put a good paint in to keep it from rusting. Don't just slap raw metal in there, it will rust eventually then.

Do you have any problems with a sagging door? On mine, my doors sag some when opened and so that is the only thing keeping me from doing the rocker replacement like this. My fear is that the door will hit the tubing. Any ideas?

Well I didn't go above the original bodyline where the original rocker was, so factory door lines remained intact. If your doors are sagging, you probably have hinges that are coming lose, I know I do. I am going to have to take the doors and fenders off and reweld the hinges in, perhaps beef up that area. That is a common problem on 96 and previous year cherokees.

the hinge welded to the body is solid. Its the hole that the pin goes in that is enlarging and giving me the sag. It seems to me that all 2 doors have the sagging door issue. Just was wondering if you had encountered this problem.

My pin holes are fine, its my door hinge seperating from the body that's doing it

There's a write up for that one some where I think it's on Comancheclub .com but I'm not sure I'd link it for you if I wasn't on my mobile
