Ok, The image below is like mine, but mine is broken. Not the part attached to the engine, the rubber end of the tube on the right in the photo. It is broken off where the smaller tube flanges out into the larger part. The whistling of air through it is pronounced.

Can someone give me its proper name and maybe a hint as to where I can find one? I looked on the Oreilly Auto site, but cannot seem to find the part (cause I don't know the name) I search for the CCV, but it came up empty.

Any advice would be helpful.

I wonder if this would cause really low idle at a stop and or a noisy transmission? (Kinda doubt the tranny would be affected by this, but what do I know.)

If it was me i would probably justvhit the junk yard for that hose piece. Sometimes its easier and cheaper then tracking it down at a parts store.

Any auto parts store will have the CCV and grommet for less than ten bucks, www.rockauto.com will have the lines that connect to it for around eight bucks.

Okay, the CCV is what used to be known as the PCV valve. It sucks in crankcase vapors and mixes them with incoming air to be burned in the engine. If it's disconnected or leaking vacuum, it will cause a lean condition.
